This makes the Prius ideal for that short daily town commute, and the battery can be recharged from a 15 amp household supply in 90 minutes. The 1.8 litre petrol engine develops 73kW and the electric motor develops 60kW, so performance is quite good while the economy is excellent, with a 5-star, 2.6L/100km rating.
