Gore man Trent Soper has worked hard to buy his 1967 XR Ford Falcon.
Mr Soper said he fell in love with the car during his teenage years and determined he would do whatever it took to purchase his dream car.
‘‘Dad had a Falcon when I was growing up and I’ve been after one since school,’’ he said.
‘‘I had a couple of Valiants that I built and sold and three weeks ago I was able to get my dream car.
‘‘It took a lot of work to get the cars up to scratch to sell, but it was worth it.’’
He has always loved the station wagon look and style of the Falcon.
The 451 V8 engine also gives it a good grunt.
‘‘It sounds very nice and goes pretty good when you want it to but it likes petrol, that’s for sure.’’
The six-seater car, which he bought for $55,000, is in good condition and even has the original upholstery.
‘‘It’s completely road-worthy.
‘‘The upholstery has a few rips in it but nothing too bad and something I intend to redo in the future.’’
He has taken the car out and about a few times, but its biggest and most important outing was for his recent wedding.
It was one of three cars used for the wedding alongside another XR wagon and XB Falcon, which belong to his father.
He is not a member of any car clubs, preferring to do his own thing.
However, he would like to show the car soon and has his eye on a few shows.
