Have these school holidays, or just family life in general, got you feeling like a taxi service for your kids?
If so, Skoda has an app to help you claim some payback for the seemingly endless drop-offs and pick-ups.
The Skoda Parent Taxi app is free to download from the iOS and Android stores and acts like a taximeter allowing parents to exchange miles — sorry, it’s a British design so Kiwi parents might need to convert to km — for chores, chores that their children can complete in exchange for being run around. There’s a suggested list of 20 jobs which include cleaning the car, feeding the pet, tidying bedrooms and doing the dishes.
The app tracks the car journey via GPS and ‘‘taxi-driving’’ parents can set how many miles equate to a single chore. Once the driver has reached their passenger’s destination, the app totals the miles travelled and reveals the chore/s for the journey.
There’s no fudging the data as the driver can share the completed journey directly to the passenger’s smartphone via text or email and it even gives the option to share the details on social media.
Families can view past journeys and fares, create a bespoke job receipt, and track the total amount of journeys.
