Kiwi Mitch Evans claimed a breakthrough Formula E victory in Rome last weekend.
Evans (24), who has been chasing his first win since joining the series in 2015, described it as a ‘‘beautiful feeling’’.
‘‘It’s been years since I had a win, so this really feels amazing. I’m so happy for the team, for everyone at Panasonic Jaguar Racing for all their hard work. This has really come at a great time.’’
It was Jaguar’s first international motorsport victory since 1991.
Evans started from second on the grid and survived an early pile up. Driving confidently, Evans overtook Germany’s Andre Lotterer for the lead and defended his line to hold on for his first win. The victory moves Evans to fourth in the series.
"We had great pace from the beginning, so I really felt confident out there," Evans said.
Jaguar Racing team director James Barclay said Evans delivered ‘‘a really mature, world-class performance’’.
